about

“(K)no(w) Better” is the new track from Vice beats and Mac Lloyd. This is their follow up full collaboration, the first being “Hollow”, from Vice beats’ 2023 album “Aspects” in addition to Mac featuring on a range of Vice beats’ tracks.

The song explores Mac Lloyd’s changing motivations and his ways to staying focused through the struggles of everyday life, reflecting on yesterday’s learnings. The song is chilled and reflective, with Vice beats offering a Rhodes soaked instrumental as the backdrop, alongside Mac’s signature guitar licks. The track features artwork by respected Russian lo-fi graphic designer N.o.n.e. Existent, representing the explosive world of creativity unlocked through music and the feeling of escapism that comes with it.

Fresh off the back of NTS Radio and BBC 1Xtra support with ever building Spotify support, Vice beats music continues to evolve, with a range of projects lined up for the rest of 2024 with artists from around the world. Mac Lloyd is gearing up for a collaborative release with A Sunny Place For Shady People, and currently in the process of writing a new album.

lyrics

Gotta find my place in this puzzle
Feeling like a dog with the muzzle on
Trying to avoid all the muddles
Skipping and hopping over every single puddle
Another baby inbound now
A little late to get my shit together
Isn't it amusing how, in this space
I'm feeling lighter than a father
Not a care but the pressure is looming
Try not to fight or abuse it
In an instant you could lose it
So squeeze tight til it starts to bruise
Time is ticking, back to thinking
Back to worries, back to sinking down
Fight this sickness, keep on swinging
Keep on swimming
Fly before you drown

I don't know no better
If I'm still I fall
Yesterday's my lesson
Try to chase the call
I don't know no better
If I'm still I fall
Yesterday's my lesson
Try to chase the calling

It seems I may have figured out how
How to turn it down
Silence speak a thousand words
And I ain't gotta make a sound
They came to me for everything
But when I speak the truth
They turn their backs, the very thing
They said that they would never do
Because I've heard enough,
I called their bluff, their tales tucked
They running scared
I gave em love, it weren't enough
I could care less for how they fare
So please spare me the excuses
Ain't me, who's out here playing stupid

I don't know no better
If I'm still I fall
Yesterday's my lesson
Try to chase the call
I don't know no better
If I'm still I fall
Yesterday's my lesson
Try to chase the calling
