In 2010 I started a band in Birmingham called
Genius Collective. The band comprised of 8
members, and was supported by Craig Charles,
Tom Robinson, supported a wide array of artists
including Smoove & Turrell, Lazy Habits,
Stig Of The Dump and more.

The saxophonist for the band, Ben, was
studying at that time and wanted to practice
a recital, so we recorded his sax piece to a jazz
standard. It sounded amazing, and not long
after, Joe Bird heard it and the idea was
formed that the track could suit the intro to
Beats N Bobs. It was one of the quickest
recording & creation processes i’ve
experienced & the cuts encapsulate the album
