Crudely Cut Records are proud to announce Unit 1, the first in a series of projects from Bristol based rhyme and beat duo C-Froo and Vice. With the first EP dropping on 16th October 2015, in the form of the energetic Boom Bap Half Job Harry, this high energy and diverse project touches on the duo’s eclectic influences and love of hip-hop.
As a constant fixture on the Bristol music scene since 1996, C-Froo is a well known name in Bristol music. Having supported the like of Mystro, RA The Rugged Man, The Furious 5, Kurtis Blow, Rodney P & Skitz and many more, the vibrant emcee has built a reputation for dope old skool rhyming styles. As one of the first rappers to appear on Ujima Radio, and a member of the infamous Mad Method crew, the youth worker and teacher is aware of the need for progressive and intelligent lyricism.
Vice has been an avid supporter of the UK scene for over a decade. He’s the host of the Wordplay Podcast, creator of Street Soul Studios in Bristol and creator of the XLR Festival. His soulful and jazz influenced production has seen him work with Panacea (Rawkus Records), Why G? (Zulu Nation), Roxxxan, he has planned projects with Brotherman, the release of The Delegates Of Rhyme’s debut album and collaborations with Distant Starr, Essa, Renegades Of Jazz as well as more international collabs on the horizon. Vice has received support from BBC Introducing, Craig Charles and Tom Robinson (BBC 6). The Bristol based beatsmith is set to make big waves in 2015 and beyond.
Unit 1 works as a calling card, making clear their intentions to offer a fresh, well crafted and interesting sound. Unit 1 is the first of 3 EPs. The units feature a selection of dope lyricists including Jonny Steele (The Scribes / Bison Theory), Social Conscience (Tough Touch), Mista Switch (Crudely Cut), Donnie Numeric (Delegates Of Rhyme) and many more.
The album is mastered by Bristol legend Rola (Khameleon Sounds / Numskullz), and features original artwork from respected graff artist Mr Riks of the KTF crew.
With the EP’s dropping through Crudely Cut Records on limited edition CD and digital format, Unit 1 is set to become a great addition to an already amazing year for UK hip-hop.
